Our Best Answer: How do I apply for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)?

Applying for TAP

You can apply for the New York State Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) by following the link to the online TAP application at the end of your FAFSA application. Or you can apply directly at TAP on the Web.

The TAP school code for LaGuardia is 1403.

If you missed the link to TAP from your FAFSA, you must wait 5 to 7 business days for the Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC) to receive and process your completed FAFSA application. After successful transmission of your FAFSA information, you will receive an email message directing you to the HESC website to complete the TAP on the Web application.

Processing a TAP application may take 1 to 3 weeks. During certain times of the academic year, processing times for "Requests for Information" and "Change Forms" may vary depending on additional review needed for income verification or residency review. Please keep in mind that awards will not be posted until after the New York State budget has passed.

If you have completed a TAP application, you will receive an award letter from HESC. You can also check your CUNYfirst account to see if you have received a TAP award.
