Our Best Answer: How do I join Phi Theta Kappa?

Joining Phi Theta Kappa

Students are automatically invited to join Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) once they have completed 12 credits at LaGuardia and attained a 3.5 GPA. If you have met these criteria, look for an email in your LaGuardia email account and letter in the mail which contains your special membership code and instructions on becoming a member. The code expires on a certain date, so be sure to join before that date.

If your code expires, you'll need to be reinvited to join PTK. Those who qualified by taking courses in the 6 week sessions will be invited in either March or September after the grades have been posted for that session. Those taking classes in the 12 week sessions will be invited to join in July or January after the grades have been posted for that session.

If you are an ASAP student, please contact the ASAP office for details on having the program pay for your PTK membership.

We do offer a membership scholarship. Please contact a chapter advisor for the application. Should you decide to fulfill the criteria for the scholarship, you will need to schedule a meeting with advisors Dr. Dana Trusso, Dianne Gordon Conyers, Chris Singh, Dr. Payal Doctor or Ann Matsuuchi to discuss the details and any questions you may have.
