Our Best Answer: Can I be exempt from classes due to my prior experience?

Exemption Credits for Prior Learning

Exemption credit from any credit course offered at LaGuardia may be granted on the basis of an examination or project equivalent to the final requirement of the course. Equivalencies are determined by the faculty of the appropriate department and must be approved by the chairperson. To receive credit by exemption, the student should apply to the appropriate chairperson or faculty designated to handle exemption requests.

The maximum number of exemption credits that can be counted towards a LaGuardia degree is 10. These 10 exemption credits may be applied toward LaGuardia's 30-credit residency requirement for a degree; a maximum of 6 credits may be applied toward a certificate. Note: Exemption credits are awarded to degree students only.
