Our Best Answer: What scholarships are available?

Foundation Scholarships: LaGuardia Community College Foundation scholarships help students who are facing financial obstacles pay for college expenses. We have a number of scholarships available, ranging from $500 to $5,000, which are made possible by contributions from generous donors?individuals, businesses, organizations, and associations both public and private. Scholarship funds may be used only for tuition, books and fees associated with your education.

Students eligible to apply:

  • Full-time students in good academic standing
  • Part-time students graduating in the current semester
  • International students

Apply now! You don't have to be an honor student. Many scholarships don't require a specific GPA. The Foundation requires a minimum GPA of 2.0 after your first semester to be considered for a Foundation scholarship.

Students selected for a scholarship may only receive one award per academic year. You may still receive funds from external awards and are encouraged to apply for other sources of financial aid. And even if you do not qualify for federal or state financial aid, you may qualify for a Foundation scholarship.

How awards are determined: Foundation scholarships awards are based on financial need, GPA and academic excellence, college or community service, or extracurricular achievement. The Foundation strives to award scholarships to as many students as possible--more than half of all scholarship applicants receive scholarships.
