Our Best Answer: How do I apply for a Foundation scholarship?

Applying for a Foundation Scholarship

You can apply for a Foundation scholarship through the online application–select Apply Now. You'll also need to:

  • Apply for financial aid to qualify for a Foundation scholarship. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). International students should complete a Needs Assessment form which can be obtained in the International Student Services Office in B117.
  • If you aren't attending LaGuardia with a Student Visa and don't qualify for Federal or State financial aid, you should complete a Needs Assessment form in C107 or email agamboa@lagcc.cuny.edu.

  • Write a personal statement of 200 words explaining your financial need, academic and career goals. Get tips on how to write your personal statement.

After you hit the "submit" button on your application, a confirmation message will be sent via your LIVE email and My LaGuardia to inform you that your application was received. You'll also receive periodic updates about your application status. Once you have submitted your Foundation scholarship application, in most cases, you should expect to be notified within 3 to 6 weeks after the beginning of the semester in which you applied regarding your eligibility.

By completing one scholarship application, you apply for all Foundation scholarships available for that academic year. However, you must re-apply each academic year. The application for the upcoming academic year will be posted online after April 1st.
