Our Best Answer: How and when will I receive my TAP?

Receiving Your TAP Award

If you have an approved TAP application with an award and you've completed registration based on your advised courses to make you a full time student, then it should take 24 to 48 hours after you register for classes for your award to appear on your bill. All awards should be considered an estimate until LaGuardia has certified your eligibility for TAP.

Enrollment: To be eligible for a full-time TAP award, you must be enrolled in 12 or more credits applicable towards your major. TAP eligibility is based on how you plan out your schedule which includes both Session I and Session II each semester. For example, you can register for 6 credits in Session I and at the same time for 6 credits in Session II to make yourself full-time at 12 credits for the entire semester. This can make you eligible for full-time TAP provided that all the credits are in the major. You can also register for 9 credits in Session I and at the same time for 3 credits for Session II to become a full-time student and be eligible for TAP as long as the classes combined are in your major.

You must also maintain State Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to maintain eligibility.

If the anticipated TAP award is not yet reflected on your CUNYfirst account and you also have a Pell Grant, the Pell award will be applied toward your tuition balance. If you received an award letter from the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation (HESC), you met all eligibility requirements and the award isn't yet posted to your CUNYfirst account, you'll need to speak with a Student Financial Services Advisor.
