Advising Holds

Advising holds are placed on students’ records for a variety of reasons. Nevertheless, the expectation is for students to meet with an Advisor if they have a hold. Advisors ensure that students are on the right track toward graduation and can assist with course selection and sequencing. Advisors can also help students identify and address challenges that may prevent momentum towards degree completion, as well as make helpful referrals to a variety of campus resources.

Once a student has met with a member of their advising team, the advising hold is released and the student is eligible to register for the upcoming semester. Students may schedule an appointment with an advisor online via their MyLaGuardia account; in person by visiting Student Advising Services (room B-102); or by calling the office at 718-482-6070.
