Our Best Answer: How do I learn my identification / social security number?

Identification Numbers

Applicants are required to provide their US Social Security number on their admissions application. People without a social security number will have one assigned automatically for CUNY-purposes only. It will show up in question #7 on your admissions application.

Additionally, CUNY will assign an identification number, EMPLID number, at the time of admission to any college within the University system. This 8-digit number is what all students use to identify themselves to conduct college business. Your EMPLID number will be available to you in your LaGuardia VIP account.

NOTE:  Staff will not provide these numbers over the phone. An in-person visit to the Registrar’s Office, room C107, will be required to retrieve your social security number or EMPLID.
