Our Best Answer: What scholarships are available?

Scholarships

Foundation Scholarships: LaGuardia Community College Foundation scholarships help students who are facing financial obstacles pay for college expenses. We have a number of scholarships available, ranging from $500 to $2,400 per semester, which are made possible by contributions from generous donors?individuals, businesses, organizations, and associations both public and private. Scholarship funds may be used only for tuition, books and fees associated with your education.

  1. Foundation General Scholarship: Continuing students with GPA of 2.0 to 4.0 will be reviewed for a scholarship award upon enrollment, based on eligibility and available funding (submission of a scholarship application is no longer required)
  2. LaGuardia Merit Scholarship: Available for new students with an 80+ high school average and returning students with a 2.5 GPA or higher.
  3. Foundation Named Scholarship: Students with GPA of 3.0 and above are encouraged to submit a scholarship application where an interview will be required

Students selected for a scholarship may only receive one award per academic year. You may still receive funds from external awards and are encouraged to apply for other sources of financial aid. And even if you do not qualify for federal or state financial aid, you may qualify for a Foundation scholarship.

How awards are determined: Foundation scholarships awards are based on financial need, GPA and academic excellence, college or community service, or extracurricular achievement. The Foundation strives to award scholarships to as many students as possible--more than half of all scholarship applicants receive scholarships.

If you have questions about the Foundation scholarship process, you can check our website or email FoundationScholarship@lagcc.cuny.edu.
