Our Best Answer: What is academic standing?

Academic Standing

Academic Standing refers to a student's academic progress status at LaGuardia, and comprises the Grade Point Average (GPA) and attempted credits. There are 4 academic standing statuses at LaGuardia:

  • Good Academic Standing: Student is meeting/surpassing the minimum GPA requirement for satisfactory progress based on their total attempted credits.
  • Probation: Student has not met the minimum GPA requirement as of the end of their most recently completed semester.
  • Extended Probation: Student has not met the minimum GPA requirement for two consecutive semesters.
  • Dismissal/Suspension: Results when a student has not met the minimum GPA requirement for three consecutive semesters. See more about dismissal from LaGuardia.
