Our Best Answer: How are equated credits different from credit hours?

Equated Credits vs. Credit Hours

  • Equated credits are the hours used for billing and financial aid purposes for basic skills courses that do not apply to students' degrees.
  • Credit hours apply directly to the student's degree and to the 60 credits needed for graduation.

When students are billed for the semester and considered for financial aid, the number of equated credits plus the number of credit hours in courses applying to their degrees are computed.
